Matt Horne is an attorney with valuable and varied legal experience. Matt has a unique practice that focuses on Real Estate, Wills and Estates, and Civil Litigation. Having joined the firm in 2001, he represents clients in a variety of areas including plaintiff’s personal injury, debtor and creditor bankruptcy, real estate transactions, wills and estate matters, and litigation.
As the head of one of the oldest and most well-established real estate practices in Newnan, Matt and his closing team regularly handle residential and commercial real estate closings, representing buyers, sellers, lenders and developers.
Plaintiff’s personal injury is a growing part of Matt’s practice. He represents injured parties in car wrecks, dog bite, and other personal injury cases. Throughout this process Matt handles all negotiations with the opposing party’s insurance company, mediations, and trials. His extensive background in all forms of litigation has Matt often in court handling civil litigation, including plaintiff’s personal injury representations.
As a lifelong resident of Georgia, Matt carefully advises Georgia families in the creation of their estate plans. In addition to drafting wills, powers of attorney and healthcare directives, he also represents estate representatives in the probate process. Matt handles all types of probate and estate litigation, including the filing of petitions for year’s support, filing caveats to will and various other probate and estate litigation matters.
In addition to his Civil Litigation practice, Matt Horne routinely advises clients on Business Law and transactional matters. He helps clients form the most advantageous business organizations for their particular needs and the proper form of business entity to create, including LLCs, Corporations, Joint Ventures and Partnerships. After establishing new businesses, Matt takes pride in continuing to represent these businesses in all stages of their growth.
Matt has served as counsel for several banks in matters ranging from bankruptcy and foreclosure to cases involving complex banking litigation. Bankruptcy representation is also a significant part of Matt’s legal practice. He has successfully handled individual Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 bankruptcy cases for debtors and creditors. Matt has handled many successful Chapter 11 reorganization and liquidation plans for businesses and individuals in the Newnan Division of the US Bankruptcy Court.
Matt Horne is a member in good standing of the State Bar of Georgia, is a member of the Coweta Bar Association and is admitted to practice in all Georgia courts, including the Georgia Court of Appeals and the Supreme Court of Georgia where he has successfully handled appeals. Matt is also admitted to the United States District Court in the Northern District of Georgia.
Matt Horne is a resident of Coweta County where he lives with his wife and two children. He and his family are members of the Newnan First United Methodist Church. Matt was an active member of the Parent Council at Elm Street Elementary School and currently serves on the Parent Council of Evans Middle School. He is a graduate of Leadership Coweta, a past officer of the Coweta County Bar Association, and currently serves on the Boards of Can’t Never Could, Inc. and Bridging the Gap.
