Melissa heads the domestic relations litigation department and mediation/arbitration departments for the firm. She has years of experience handling high asset and complex divorce cases. She is a certified Collaborative Law attorney in both family and civil matters. Melissa’s practice includes serving as a mediator, arbitrator or litigator in Coweta, Carroll, Troup, Heard and Meriwether counties. Melissa has also served as a consultant to other metro Atlanta attorney’s to evaluate divorce cases.
Melissa has vast experience with land use and zoning matters. She has represented numerous developers and individual homeowners over the years with the goal of modifying the existing land use/zoning of their property. As a Newnan native, Melissa is very familiar with the zoning requirements and has a good handle on the comprehensive Land Use Plan and Future Development Map for Coweta County and other surrounding areas.
Melissa has served as general counsel to the Coweta County Water and Sewerage Authority since 2011. She handles multiple issues with this representation from Open Records Act Laws to Employment issues.
Melissa is admitted to all courts in the State of Georgia and the State of Alabama. She is an active member of the First Baptist Church of Newnan serving as a children’s Sunday School Teacher, Ladies Bible Study Leader and on the Personnel Committee. Melissa serves as the Chairman of the Elm Street Elementary School Council. Melissa is a Sustaining Member of the Newnan Junior Service League (Executive Board 2005-2009) and a graduate of the Newnan-Coweta Chamber of Commerce Leadership Coweta. She, her husband and children reside in Newnan.
